Third place at the German Roasting Championship with Andrés Maraia
ORINETIC KAFFEEWe had the pleasure of accompanying Andrés from March 11th to 13th, 2026, at the German Roasting Championships at Probat in Emmerich. The German Roasting Championship is one of the most exciting competitions in the specialty coffee scene. We at ORINETIC are all the more proud to have been able to support Andrés on this journey – and even more so that he ultimately secured 3rd place .

A competition that demands precision
Coffee roasting is far more than a technique. It's an interplay of experience, sensory perception, and intuition. At the German Roasting Championship, the best roasters from across Germany compete against each other. The goal is to unlock the full potential of a green coffee bean – with a roast that impresses in both taste and profile.
For Andrés, this meant many weeks of intensive preparation: analyzing green coffee, testing roasting profiles, cupping, adjusting – and starting all over again. Every small parameter can make the difference.

The preparation: A passion for details
Together with ORINETIC, Andrés experimented with various approaches to best showcase the coffee's character. Temperature curves, development time, and energy input were constantly fine-tuned.
The goal was not just to create a "good" roast, but one that is clear, balanced and expressive – exactly what should convince the jury.

The moment of competition
On championship day, every detail counts. Under time pressure and in front of a panel of experts, the roasters must demonstrate how well they understand their coffee.
Andrés remained focused and calm. His roast impressed with a clear structure, balanced sweetness, and precise aroma – ultimately earning him third place at the German Roasting Championship .
We are incredibly proud of Andrés and delighted to have been part of this journey.

And now?
The competition is over – but the passion for roasting continues. The experience gained from the championship flows directly into our daily work: into new roasting profiles, into our coffees, and into everything we do at ORINETIC.
Congratulations, Andrés! Third place is just the beginning. ☕
